Aamir's wife will pledge to donate her organs
Kiran Rao recently made it clear that she is not part of the production of the film, Ship of Theseus but just a presenter. She is presenting the film to get a larger audience simply for the love of the film. We now know how much she loves the film because it actually inspired her to pledge about donating her organs. The film directed by Anand Gandhi questions of identity, justice, beauty, meaning and death through the stories of an experimental photographer, an ailing monk and a stock broker.
Kiran Rao began her career as an assistant director and in 2011 she made a film called Dhobi Ghat. The 39-year-old believes there is a great merit in saving a life. "I have thought about organ donation. This film has given me a chance to think about organ donation deeply. Earlier, I thought we can only donate our eyes, but the fact that each and every organ of our body can be used to save somebody's life, I got to know about this from the film," said Kiran on July 11 at a press conference to promote the film.
"I would like to go for organ donation. In fact, this week only all of us, who want to donate their organs but have not taken the pledge, will go and do it. I definitely believe there is a great merit in donating one's organ and seeing life continue beyond you," she added.
Kiran along with UTV Motion Pictures is presenting Ship of Theseus, which has already travelled to several film festivals across the globe. It is set to release on July 19 in five cities- Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Bangalore and Kolkata. Kiran and her husband Aamir Khan will be seen hosting a special party on July 16 to introduce Anand Gandhi and his team to friends and colleagues. Kiran feels it's time for the industry to meet people as talented as Anand and his team.
"We are calling friends from the industry to watch the film and having them at home for dinner to meet Anand and the cast & crew. We are really looking forward to it. I am hoping as many people who are in town, who are around, will come and meet Anand and his team," Kiran told reporters here at a press conference Thursday.
