Filmmaker Sudhakar Bokade passes away
The producer of films such as Saajan and Prahaar breathed his last on June 7
Filmmaker Sudhakar Bokade, who made movies like Saajan, Prahaar and Izzatdaar, passed away due to a heart attack in Mumbai on Sunday, July 7. He was 57.
Bokade’s daughter Divya Bokade said, “He was hospitalised day before yesterday (July 6) because he suffered a heart attack, and he passed away last night (July 7).” He was admitted to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Andheri.
Tanuj Garg, CEO, Balaji Motion Pictures, tweeted, “RIP Sudhakar Bokade”.
“…Sudhakar Bokade ji was planning for next 10 yrs to shoot films in Fiji n Malaysia n aaj chal base. Life is a bitch. RIP,” said actor Kamaal R Khan.
Bokade produced notable films like the Salman Khan-Madhuri Dixit-Sanjay Dutt-starrer Saajanand the Nana Patekar cult Prahaar. The late filmmaker’s other projects include Sapne Saajan Ke,Dhanwaan, Kalinga, Sauda and Yeh Pyaar Hi Toh Hai, among others.
Sources say Bokade was working on a film starring Rajeev Khandelwal, to be directed by Kajal Naskar. His blockbuster Saajan was also being remade by the original’s director Lawrence D’Souza.
Bokade’s funeral will be held this afternoon. He is survived by daughters Divya and Kiran and son Krishna.
