IIFA 2013: Bollywood’s young brigade
on centrestage!
Macau will rock – this year the awards will have the Gen Next actors on stage in full force
IIFA newbie Arjun Kapoor, who shot to fame with Ishaqzaade, will not just perform for the first time on this platform, but will also don a Dabangg avatar. Arjun has chosen a medley of hit songs for his stage debut at IIFA. He will dance to Salman Khan’s Dabangg 2 title track, Main tera hero from Desi Boyz, Bachna ae haseeno (the title track) and Senorita from Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. And we’re sure this chokra jawaan will manage to win over all the watching señoritas - and a few senoras – with his act.
Deepika Padukone, who has had a lucky streak at the box-office, will perform to hit dance numbers from Cocktail and Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani on July 6. While expectations of Deepika’s act are really high, it would have been even better to catch the sizzling chemistry that Dippy shared with co-star and ex-beau Ranbir Kapoor on stage too. After all, Balam pichkari on stage will not be same without RK Jr, will it?
IIFA 2013 will also have Jadoo ki jhappis in abundance, thanks to Jacqueline Fernandes. Jackky will perform her latest number from Ramaiya Vastavaiya this year. And here’s a suggestion: when you watch the lady on stage, don’t forget to wear your dancing shoes, ‘coz she definitely will get you grooving.
Also performing live together for the first time will be the unusual fresh pair of Ayushmann Khuranna and Parineeti Chopra. If they rock it like they should, you might just be watching them on 70mm soon. Not a first timer Dia Mirza will shake her pretty leg to songs like Mere khwabon mein jo aaye, Bole chudiyan, Mujse shaadi karogi, Tenu leke main javanga and Gal mitthi mithhi bol, all choreographed by Remo D’souza for the second day of the gala, July 5.
While the young brigade will be out in full force, making her first ever appearance on the IIFA stage is Sridevi. That’s not all – joining this Chandni for a dance-off will be ace dancer/choreographer Prabhudeva. And then there is the diva herself; Madhuri Dixit Nene will shake her thing to Ghagra and other hit songs. Wish you were there? We do!
The funny duo Boman Irani and Vir Das will cast their comic spell on the audiences this year as hosts. Also, Shahrukh Khan returns as IIFA host after almost eight years, joined by Shahid Kapur, who is taking time off his busy Rambo Rajkumar schedules for IIFA rehearsals.
With all these stars coming together under one roof, IIFA definitely looks like it will be an action-packed and fantastic event this year!
