Mumbai Film Festival gets new branding

Mumbai Film Festival gets new branding

The 15th edition of the Mumbai Film Festival will sport a new icon

The Mumbai Film Festival (MFF), organised by the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI), will have a new logo from at the fest’s 15th edition. The MFF, also called as the MAMI film fest, is held every year in the hub of Bollywood. It has become the favourite of movie buffs and industry professionals alike. The new visual branding is to represent a ‘strong association with the most important centre of the Indian film industry’ – that is Mumbai.
The new MFF icon is an interpretation of the Gateway of India, revealed Shyam Benegal, filmmaker and Chairman, MAMI. He said, “This year, we have an exciting new logo that incorporates both the city of Mumbai and the iconic Gateway of India.”
The logo is also a ‘carefully crafted homage to Mumbai’s art deco era of talkies’, a statement said.
What’s more, the branding also gets colourful from this year onwards, rather than sticking to just one hue. Each colour will represent a category at the festival. The logo also denotes the Golden Gateway Award, which is the Best Film award.
Srinivasan Narayanan, Festival Director, said, “The festival has evolved into one of the most important film festivals in this part of the world, showcasing the best cinema from all over the globe. The new logo stands for the dynamic and fluid integration of the iconic with progress and evolution.”
The 15th Mumbai Film Festival will be held from October 17-24, 2013.
