Mumbai, June 21 -- Bollywood stars - especially the Khans - are always in a huge demand in Dubai. So it was hardly surprising to see their personal belongings selling like hot cakes at a charity auction in the desert nation. But interestingly, it was Hrithik Roshan's Diesel jacket that fetched the highest amount - 11,000 Dirham (Rs 1.79 lakh approx).
"The auction was organised by Rohit Roy to help out a training centre for kids with special needs. At the event, Ranbir's leather jacket (worn in Rockstar, 2011) fetched 10,000 dirhams while Salman's blue shirt and trousers fetched 10,000 Dirham (Rs 1.6 lakh approx). Rohit was more than happy with the response," says an insider. Apparently, Deepika Padukone's cocktail dress from Race 2 got 8,000 Dirham (Rs 1.3 lakh approx) while Kareena Kapoor's salwar kameez from Heroine went for 10,000 Dirham.
When contacted, Rohit confirms: "Yes, Hrithik's jacket got the highest bid. Actually, everyone's belongings were sold for around 10,000-11,000 Dirham. They all are huge draws in Dubai. I'm thankful that they were forthcoming when I told them about this charitable deed. They happily parted with their belongings."
Rohit, on his part, feels that such an auction will help the kids of the charity school get a solid foundation. "I have always felt very strongly about that school. So it was always on my mind to do something for the kids. This is my way of doing my bit for them with help from our Bollywood stars."
