Sanjay Leela Bhansali beats Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan to bag the remake rights of Tamil horror-comedy Kanchana

The Ramleela director clinches the deal which Sallu apparently lost out on due to money matters

Bollywood’s obsession with remaking South films isn’t fading away anytime soon. After tasting success with Rowdy Rathore, remake of the Telugu blockbuster Vikramarkudu, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has now acquired the remake rights of director Raghava Lawrence’s Tamil hit, Kanchana. We hear the horror-comedy will be produced by SLB and directed by Raghava himself.
Reportedly, Salman Khan was eyeing the remake rights of Kanchana and wanted to play the lead too. But the Dabangg actor lost out on the project ‘coz of money matters. Besides Sallu, Shahrukh Khan and Sanjay Dutt were also said to be in the race for acquiring the rights of the film. But it’s the Ramleela director who has finally clinched the deal.
